Tour of the Galley Behind The Scenes

I have been out of commission for the last 2 weeks, busy packing, unpacking and traveling but I am in full gear now, at least before our next coming trip. I sure missed all these events.
Foodie Friday is hosted by a very gracious hostess, Gollum. Won't you all go visit her at http://designsbygollum.blogspot.com/ and join in on the fun?
We went on a Western Caribbean cruise last week. While on a fun day at sea, the platinum card holders were invited to tour the galley so we took advantage of that. We all eat so much delicious and attractive food on the cruise and I would like to show you what's behind the scenes before they serve us. Pretty much everything in the kitchen is stainless, which gave me a hard time taking pictures. It was just too bright.
Look at all that wonderful desserts!
The cooks were busy working away.
Sweets and more sweets....Yummy!

Would you like to have these ovens in your kitchen?
Chocolate melting cake, my favorite and what's responsible for my heavy weight today. They are so good and so hard to resist. LOL!
These are the covers they use on our dinner plates before they serve us, to keep the food warm in transit.
A Mexican party on the Lido deck. Here is the dessert buffet table, lots of fruits, cheesecakes, flans, etc.
This was my dinner on the formal night, lobster and prawns. It was scrumptious! I usually gain at least 5 pounds when we go on a cruise but this time, I tried to control myself from eating too much and I only gained a pound.
And this was my dessert....a warm apple pastry with cinnamon sauce and coffee.
There is so much food and you can eat as much as you want. In an average week, guests consume 2,200 lbs of prime rib, 4,500 lbs. of chicken, 2,500 steaks, 15,000 lbs of shrimp, 1,000 lbs of lobster tail, 7000 pizza, 22,000 eggs, 620 lbs of fruit juice, 1,000 lbs of coffee, 20,000 Danish pastries, 4320 bananas, 6,700 lbs of potatoes, 24,500 cans of soft drinks, 28,150 bottles/cans of beer, 3,502 bottles of wine and so on and so on. Should I go on? LOL!
Thanks for visiting. I hope you enjoyed the tour of the galley. Now, please join me at Gollum's!

Wow! Looks like you had a great time. My grandmother always told me that "Cruising is Scrumptious"! I have been on two and I agree! Looks like these pictures you posted also back up my grandma's words!

Have a great weekend!

Only one pound with all those delicious sweets. I love to cruise and I enjoy the afternoon tea time. You are one lucky lady to get a tour during the baking. I would be delirious being around so much flour!

Christine, all the food looks soooo good. I am always amazed at how much food everyone eats, the totals you listed were astounding. You were a good girl, only 1 lb. I think that's pretty good. Look at all the control you had. I don't think I would have been able to resist, it looks like they had all my favorites. lol Hugs, Marty

Always a fun time and the food...
Like the way they serve the loaf cakes--upside down with chocolate drizzle and fruit. YUM!
Home safely, a good thing.

I enlarged every photo. I just had to see every detail up close and personal. Fortunately it was calorie free. Thanks for a great tour of the ships cuisine.

Come by for a visit, the company would be nice.

Sweet wishes,
