2 crock Bisquit Jars and 3 Or More Tureens

While I am waiting for the rice to cook, I thought I'd upload pics and join 2nd Time Around Tues., hosted by Diane at http://diane1876.blogspot.com/ and 3 or More Tuesday, which is hosted by Tam at http://gypsycorner.blogspot.com/. Please visit these 2 energetic ladies and check out their posts and the posts of their lists of participants.

Thanks, Diane and Tam for taking the time to hosts these 2 wonderful events.

Last Saturday, John and I were on our way to eat lunch at a Thai Restaurant downtown. The antique shop right next to the restaurant was having a sidewalk sale. Naturally, we stopped there first. We saw 2 trellises with Mandevalia growing inside them. After accepting our offer for a discount if we bought both of them, we went inside the store to pay. Then I saw this vase with a Magnolia.
But I saw this first and I called John to take a look. I told him I like it and the price was marked down from $575 to $450. Luckily the owner was there and said she will give me a better deal if I want it. She gave it to me for $400 so we bought it. I'll show you what I will do with it in another post. It hasn't been delivered yet. The vase above was marked $25 and the owner was willing to give me a $10 discount. I told her that I would rather the price was $10 and not the discount. She gave it to me at that price since we bought the armoire. I like the arched glass of the armoire and it has 1 drawer at the bottom.
And we also bought the following 2 vintage bisquit jars for $10 each. The paint is a little messed up but I can fix them easily.

John commented "and we just came here to eat lunch!" LOL!

It is also 3 or More Tuesday. You probably know how obssessed I am with plates. Well, I am also obssessed with soup tureens and servers. And I am showing you a few of my collection below.
I store them on top of my kitchen cabinets since they are too bulky and they take too much space inside cabinets. After all, I need to leave room for my plates.
I think they are self explanatory so I won't even describe them. John is calling me to watch a dvd (24) with him. I hope you enjoy the pictures and I would like to thank Tam and Diane again for hosting and you all for visiting.

You should have picked a different restaurant! It would have been a whole lot cheaper, but then you wouldn't have all those loveleigh little treasures and that stunning cabinet! I like the white duck tureen, but they're all neat.

I wanted to tell you that my post for today contains info about your giveaway too! Hopefully you'll get more people interested, but then again, that lowers MY chances! Have a great day!

My word. How do you decide which ones to use on any given day. I bet you choose the dishes and then decide what would look the best on or in them.

Oh Christine, how awful that the armoire and our angel figurine got broken. I am so sorry. It was such a gorgeous piece and such an excellent price I thought. What about your figurine, are they going to pay for that? I do agree, sometimes movers just drive you crazy. Such a sad thing. Hugs, Marty

Christine,

You are such a bargain hunter!! I love that you said you would rather pay $10.00 instead of the 10% discount!!! LOL!!

I love that armoire. Your house must be huge to have room for this. Didn't you just get a large cabinet for your purses?? Let me know if you find you have no room for it!! ;-)

I love soup tureens. I always think I should buy one because I make soups all the time. In fact, soup is one of the best things I do~it is one big experiemnt. Maybe one day I will splurge. But I don't have the room for a collection. And all of yours are interesting and beautiful!!

I never thought to join you on Saturday. I did not know it was an event to join!! I just thought you posted about your trips on Saturdays!! Duh!! I will try to get orgasnized and look at my pics. We travelled quite a bit last year but I don't remember who took pictures. I was not much of a picture taker after the kids got older.

I hope the pool is coming along well and that you are enjoying your summer. It is still very cool here and I am way behind on gardening. I was sick but I am now getting much better. I should email you~this is getting long. I hope I have not missed any good posts of yours. No signal at the lake.

Have a great week. A big hug from me to you!! :-)

xoxo

The armoire is gorgeous, and worth every penny that you paid. I have to laugh. I was reading this and hadn't scrolled enough to see the armoire. I was thinking that you paid $400 for something in the first photo. Yikes!

Oh I love the armoire!!! And I for sure could go 'shopping' at your place - hehe. Sorry I'm so late visiting this week.
Have a wonderful weekend,
