First Spring Tablescape for 2010

I had to work really hard to get to set a table here. Most of you know that I was gone for a month and I just came home last Saturday. I got home and I almost went back to Florida after what I saw, lol. My house was a total mess, much worse that I could ever imagine. You could not even walk through here to go to the bedrooms. You have to go around the sofa to get there. There was a huge threadmill blocking both entries to the family room from the kitchen and from the foyer. And there were plants everywhere on the floor along the walkway to the hall leading to the bedrooms and packages everywhere. Rug runners all rolled up. As I started putting away the plants, I noticed even fake plants were on the floor. I asked dh what they were doing on the floor. LOL! He was watering them too. ROFLOL!!!! I guess I should have known better than to leave him by himself for a whole month. Or was he just trying to make me feel that I am that much needed?

Anyway, I worked really hard, practically all night. First I asked dh to help me move the treadmill from the entry to the window. Do you see it there? Then I moved all the plants outside and moved the fake ones to where they belong. Then, I steam cleaned the floor and unrolled the runner after the floor was dry. I opened all the packages and I am still trying to put stuff away. All these just so I could join Susan at http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/for Tablescape Thursday. To see more wonderful tablescapes, make sure you visit our lovely hostess and her other enthusiastic participants.

My inspiration for this tablescape is the quilt throw that I brought back from FL. I knew I wanted to use it as a tablecloth and create something that is spring like and what would be more springy than having bunnies and flowers? BTW, do you see the lovely sunset in the background?
I found the egg topiary in a TJ Maxx store in Florida. And so with the bunny.

I got these lavender S & P from a flea market in Vidalia last summer.

Salad plates are made by Noble Excellence in a Butterfly Quilt pattern. I used my white lace chargers from JC Penney's and some white plates that I have had for a while now but never used. The orchids are flowers that fell off my plant and I just placed them in water in a little vase I bought from Southern Living at Home.

Ruffly green placemats.
Don't you just love the water can that the bunny is carrying?

Peirced yellow napkins in ceramic bunny napkin rings.
Yes, spring is finally here. The camelias behind the pool have not stopped blooming since winter. I started hanging flowering planters on the porch.

I used different colored crystal goblets with pink wine glasses. See the orchids?

Thanks y'all for coming by! Happy Spring!
And thanks Susan, for hosting.

That quilt is just beautiful. What a wonderful find. Your bunny and the egg topiary are both so pretty and look perfect. Love your dishes and your different colored stems together. They really bring all the colors of the quilt out. Your orchids are just wonderful. I still can't grow them. The salt and peppers are fabulous. Every detail is just so lovely. Hope you have it all put back together. Hugs, Marty

He was trying to water the faux plants also? :-) Just curious - is that why the runner was rolled up, cause it was wet? :)
What a pretty table setting, and really like the topiary. You did good!

Christine, I can't believe that he was watering the faux plants too! Hey, at least he tried. Your table is so pretty, I love all the spring colors and that little egg topiary is adorable. And the quilt throw is perfect! What a beautiful view from your window, that sunset is amazing. We just got back from our whirlwind trip, I'll be posting pix from the wedding and the farm tomorrow. I forgot how much I love Mississippi, just wish we would have had more time so that we could have met! Hugs, Kat

Hi- thanks for the quick. I did comment on your lower post and saw your beautiful cabinet. I can't believe they all fit in that cabinet. Good job on organizing.

A bright, happy, elegant tablescape. I love everything about it. It's a tribute to your skill as a tablescaper, especially after spending a month away. And you steamcleaned your carpets. That is next on my list. I felt a kinship reading how you came home to ground zero. My husband is a pure sloth, and he knows it! Today he left trash on the floor and poor Mister ate last night's carrots and mushrooms and now he's burping. Tomorrow, if Mister is well, Dr. Gollum is mine for the day.

The table looks lovely. Love the quilt. Beautiful decorations. I must get to work and set my table when I feel better. I do love my Easter table.

Hi, Christine. Your colorful, happy table made me smile. Your highly intelligent hubby (he's a doctor, right?) watering fake plants made me laugh out loud! I can see why you were inspired to build a tablescape around that beautiful quilted throw. Everything looks really festive and filled with positive energy. I've never seen ruffled placemats like yours. They look great! I love the idea of using fallen orchids on the table. They were definitely too beautiful to throw away!

Hope you have a great weekend. Get some rest, OK? ;)

Warm regards,
Bill

Your table really speaks spring. I love the quilt on the table and the pretty topiary and bunny, The dishes and s & P shaker, the goblets and the place mats are all perfect spring colors. I really love this, Christine.

I am sorry you had to come home to a mess. Alan would have been the same, if not worse, but he is crafty, he would have had Emily clean up. I had to laugh at the idea of John watering fake plants. Too funny!!

I received your email and now we are checking Alan's schedule. He has to check his schedule to check his schedule. ;-)

Oh my...I'm sorry you came home to a mess. My husband is a neat freak (we both are) so I could leave for a year and things would still be the same. You tell your husband to put that treadmill somewhere else, it is blocking your beautiful view!!

I love the way the table turned out. The quilted topper and the plates go perfectly together. I really like the way you mixed up the stemware and assorted the colors. It is very springy!
