The Atlantis in the Bahamas

It's weekend again and it's time to join a quad meme. In addition to my weekly Sightseeing Saturday, I am joining

Laurie for A Few of My Favorite Things at http://bargainhuntingwithlaurie.blogspot.com/

The Tablescaper for Summer Sundays at http://thetablescaper.blogspot.com/

When we were in Destin for the 4th of July weekend, I spotted this crystal candelabra at the Villeroy and Boch outlet store. I just couldn't leave it behind so I bought it. Luckily, they had scratch offs to determine if a buyer can get a discount. I got a 20 % off and I was pretty happy with that. The candelabra is quite big and I did not want to put it on the dining table since I do a lot of tablescapes and I am afraid to keep moving it for fear of breaking it, so it ended up on the console in the foyer. Someday, I will use it when I am in the mood to set an elegant tablescape. I don't think my pictures do it any justice at all and needless to say, it's my favorite candle holder.

Let's go to the Bahamas!

These pictures were taken in December a year or 2 ago but the water makes it feel like summer to me. And what could be more pink than the Atlantis Hotel? And do you see the pink hibiscus framing us?

John went with his daughters to the straw market and I, with my sister and friends, took a water taxi to go to the Atlantis.

The view along the way was breath taking. We even passed by Nicholas Cage and John Travolta's family vacation homes.

And there it is, the majestic Atlantis.

Here I am with my sister Fe.

Isn't the Atlantis pretty in the background? It's a humongous building.

Taking fun pictures, lol! If you have not tasted Tortuga rum cakes, you should. I love the different flavors.

The Atlantis is just as beautiful inside as it is outside. With me here are some very close friends that I used to dance with when we lived in Illinois. We used to belong to a Fil-Am dance troupe and we would be doing performances all over. I sure miss those days!

I will never forget our visit there. After walking around, everybody got busy playing with slot machines. Now, I am not one who likes to gamble (I would rather go shopping) but I got tired of waiting for everybody so I went looking for a 25 cent slot and settled there. I figured if I placed a $50 bill (which was the smallest bill that I was carrying at that time), it would go a long way and maybe my companions will be all done playing before I could lose it all, but hopefully, I would win. After 2 pulls in the slot, I wondered why the machine stopped playing. I called an attendant thinking I had a defective machine. But it was my brain that was defective, lol, for I sat in front of a $25 (not cent) slot machine. I told you, I do not like gambling. I never played again after that.

Every detail of the building is just beautiful.

The water is so clear with the most gorgeous color.

I hope you enjoyed this mini tour. Thanks to our hostesses for another weekend of fun memes. And thank you all for coming by for a visit. I always enjoy your company. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Hi Christine!
I'm glad you showed these pictures. We took a Disney cruise to the Bahamas. I have pictures of us standing under that same welcome sign. lol.
It was in April, and sort of raining so we didn't take the water taxi over to see Atlantis. I've never seen the inside of it before.
At least the rest of the cruise was perfect weather.

Really like your candelabra. Sorry about your bad luck at the slot machine. I am not a gambler either. I only play slot machines on occasion & limit what I put in and stop when that is gone. I just consider it an overpriced meal and do not go often.
Have won a little, but not enough to keep trying.
Have a great weekend.

Christine that candelabra is just gorgeous. The Destin Outlet Mall is such a fun place to shop! The pictures from the Bahamas are beautiful. Every time I see the ads for the Atlantis I think of what a fun place that would be to visit. The water is amazing! Thanks for the mini vacation.

Oh Christine, your candelabra is just fabulous. So pretty. We were in the Bahamas about 10 years ago, and so much fun. Such a beautiful area and the water is incredible. Your pictures are fabulous. Thanks for the tour. Hugs, Marty

Christine, we stayed at the Atlantis a few years ago for a business conference of my husband's. The service was horrible when we checked in. Our rooms were not ready until four hours later and another couple's room was not ready until 10:30 at night. They were unable to attend the opening night dinner because they didn't have a room to get ready in. The place is beautiful, but the service was terrible then.

I've always thought this would be "the place" to stay. It looks just as wonderful as I thought it would.

My husband and I have started going to casinos when we are in Michigan. We only allow ourselves $20 a night and we play the penny slots! I see all these people placing big bets and I think how silly we are:)

The candalabra is beautiful and 20% off is a great deal. Love all the pictures. So sorry about the machine you sat at. I would have been pissed. You have to be really careful where you sit! I play nickels.
