A Long Awaited Rooster Party

Barbara's Rooster Party is finally here! I hope you don't miss seeing the rest of the roosters cock-a-doodle-dooing in Blogland. Visit Barb at http://barbsgoodlife.blogspot.com/ to see them.

I have some thrifty finds so I am linking with Leigh also for Thrifty Thursday at http://lbratina.blogspot.com/

And since a big part of my post is a Rooster tablescape, I am also linking with Susan at http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/

When we were in Dallas about 2 weeks ago, we went to Williams-Sonoma at the Galleria. I saw these rooster plates and they were marked down from $72 to $19.99 for a set of 4 dinner plates. I would have bought more but it's all they had. Then I saw the small bowls marked down to $14.99 for a set of 4. Finally, I saw the big platter, 15 inch in diameter, also marked down from $72 to $19.99. I looked at John and asked him with pitiful eyes if we could buy them. Of course he said yes, lol.

Prior to spotting the dishes, I saw this tablecloth in the clearance bin and I was already carrying it around to buy it.

We flew into Dallas so we asked the cashier to ship everything to our house, didn't want to pack them in the luggage. We also bought 2 cans of ice cream mix. I still have to try my ice cream maker attachment to my electric Kitchen Aid mixer and the mix should encourage me. It only costs around$16 to ship everything. We bought other stuff too and John said for that reasonable shipping charge, he wouldn't carry the stuff around the mall.

The dishes have different kinds of roosters on them. They are signed by the artist, a French painter, Marc Lacaze. I wondered why they were expensive to begin with but I guess the signature makes them more valuable. You can watch his video at http://www.williams-sonoma.com/products/rooster-francais-dinnerware/?pkey=cview-all-sale

I used 4 different colors of rooster plate chargers.

I copied the info below from the Williams-Sonoma website. They still have some left in there but they are selling them for more than what we paid for.

I saw the white hen egg cup holder from TJ Maxx a few months ago. The tiny little chick standing next to her mom is actually a salt shaker. I think it is so cute.

I only have 2 of the rooster glasses. I got them on clearance at Pier 1 for $1.99 each, marked down from $7.99. Too bad, only 2 were left.

The cobalt blue oil and vinegar server set with pewter roosters on top is from Ebay for $5 and even though I paid $10.35 for the shipping, I still wanted it.

I have shown you my rooster flatware before. They came from Ross.

The rooster tea light candle holders are from Ross.

Below, you will see the round platter I mentioned earlier and it is displayed on the kitchen island and some rooster place card holders I bought fromPottery Barn in Dallas also. I also bought some square chicken wire plate chargers from there but I did not use them for this tablescape.

I bought the rooster night light from Kirklands in Jackson, MS.

Do you see the wooden rooster on the window sill? That's one of the pair that I got almost for free when I bought the china set at a resale store.

I have shown this during the first rooster party but let me show you again. I got the planter for free when I bought a Persian rug. Free, so that qualifies for thrifty, huh!

Last but not least, I want to show you a Mexican handicraft of roosters displayed at the Mexican museum that we visited in Cozumel.

I hope you enjoyed seeing our roosters. Thank you so much for coming by and thank you so much, Barbara, Leigh and Susan, for hosting these fun parties!

Christine, what a delightful tablescape. I've admired those W.S. china and that tablecloth in the outlet store, but the china has never been that inexpensive when I've been there. I do love your rooster planter (and can't believe it was free). laurie

Oh Christine...this table is SO colorful & happy looking! Your new plates are awesome...that DH of yours is a pushover for pitiful eyes. LOL

You have an amazing collection of feathered fowl & I'm in awe of your shopping adventures. Good idea to just ship it all home. I used to do that when I'd visit & shop with my baby sis in AZ. Much cheaper, especially now that the airlines charge so much for extra bags!

fondly,
Rett

p.s. I like the new look of your blog!

Beautiful table, Christine! I have seen those dishes at the outlet, but I am not a rooster gal. I did buy the rooster cloth and napkins on clearance , but I used it last year in the rooster party. I didn't have anything else different to show!
I am glad you found some bargains!
