Brunch at the Castle

It's Saturday again and I want to show you more of my favorite restaurant in town, The Castle.

But first, let me show you my pink contribution for Beverly's Pink Saturday. You can see other lovely pinks at http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com

My new-old dish set are made by Homer Laughlin in the Barclay Cavalier eggshell pattern. I really like the soft pink in them. I like this eggshell group by Homer Laughlin because the china is very shiny and looks very delicate and has the sweetest of colors. I have them in blue also.

I also want to show you my newly acquired fairy lamp and the little box. I found them with a bunch of stuff that we bought from a junk shop in Roxie. I just pulled these 2 because they have pink flowers. They were cheap, $3 and $2. I'll show you the rest of the haul next time.

Debjani's husband is here on vacation and they invited us to have brunch with them at The Castle last Sunday. I did not even know that they serve a brunch buffet there until then. We often just go to dinner there.

Here is the restaurant. It used to be the mansion's carriage house. The horses used to stay in the basement of the building.

And here is the antebellum mansion. The restaurant is right behind it.

A closer look of the back of Dunleith. I never noticed that big martin bird house before.

Here is another building in the property. I am not really sure what it is used for either but I think they store the old carriages there now.

This is the entrance to the restaurant. I love these big doors with big lion door knockers.

The trees lining the driveway are lovely. You can see the back of Dunleith in the far end. It is now a Bread and Breakfast. It holds a special meaning to us because that is where the hospital placed us when John was being interviewed and we were shown the town. The brick building on its left, which you can see behind me, is the shop.

Here is another building in the property, located on the right side of the restaurant. I wonder if that is where the owner lives.

Debjani and her hubby, Dr. Som.

Isn't the fireplace in the restaurant really pretty? They light it up when it is cold and it looks very cozy.

This is the buffet room and there's my friend, Debjani.

I would love to take that hunt scene painting home. Or maybe I will just settle with Queen Guinevere.

I really love their wall pictures and oil paintings.

I don't know what's gotten into me but I took a picture of our slides and feet. Can you guess which foot belongs to whom? I hope I don't give you nightmares after seeing this, lol.

Thanks for stopping by!

And thanks to Beverly for another fun Pink Saturday!

Happy Pink Saturday, Christine.

I love so many of the Homer Laughlin patterns. I have Jean which my mother had when she first got married.

The Castle looks enchanting. I know it is a place I would love. You must have had a great time with your friends.

Beautiful place Christine. And it certainly did the trick didn't it? You stayed there and you decided to go ahead and live there, so I know that must've been some nice place *winks*
