For my Son Jed, the Hunter

We are approaching hunting season here. It starts on October 1st. But my son Jed, has already been hunting in Florida on private property so I thought I would dedicate this tablescape especially to him, and to all the hunters out there.

Here is Jed. He is a typical guy, he likes to hunt and fish.

See my antler? The owner of the hunting store where we bought Jed's birthday present gave it to me.

I added some faux persimmons and an orb with ferns and moss in the bowl with antlers.

I am really getting a lot of use of this maple tree.

a maple leaf candle

I used my salad plates with a rabbit, deer and a platter with a wild boar. I also have a salad plate with a wild boar but I only set a table for 2.

I cannot believe that I do not have any plain brown dinner plates, out of over 70 sets of dishes that we own. So, I used my brown Staffordshire Royal Mail transferware for dinner plates. I used 2 types of plate chargers, layered, a taupe ceramic and a cross section of a wood trunk.

I thought the bone flatware would blend well with everything else.

I wanted to use my monkey napkin rings but I could not remember where I kept them, so I used the lions instead.

I also used a horn carving knife and fork.

I mixed amber goblets and green wine stems

There is the deer plate. It's a buck, see the antlers?

I bought the wood chargers from Z Gallerie a year or 2 ago. I only have 2 because the others that they had were all cracked so I did not buy more, but I really like what I got.

This is beautiful, Christine.

I found two salad plates at HomeGoods today, that look like spode woodlands sort of. They have deer. I hope I can find a couple more. I guess I can set a table for two, for now.:-)

What a great table Christine dedicated to your hunter son! I love all the amazing elements you've used for it, and it also has a very masculine look to it and at the same time elegant and young! Beautiful dishes all of them! Yes, sweetie, you need to get something in brown! I thought I had lots of dishes, but I only have 16 complete sets, lol! The centerpiece is wonderful! Hugs, FABBY

Oh my goodness, Christine. This week, I don't even know where to begin. I love all of the animal elements. (I think those zebra candles are my favorite one). And the tree trunk charger? That was just perfect.

Wonderful!

What a neat table honoring your son's love of hunting! You foudn a lot of really great elements to make it special! Those candles are too cool!!! I think the dinner plates you chose are perfect! They look great! I bought all of the pheasant salad plates Z Gallerie had in the clearance (12, I think...I got 'em for just about $2 each!). They only had 2 of the boars left, so I didn't get them, but now I wish I had. There were only 4 of those gorgeous putty-colored "Helena" chargers. I wish I had more. I love the way you used everything together. It's like a very upscale lodge! Have a great weekend, Christine!

What a unique table! I have some horn handled silverware in a box (somewhere) I hope I remember a hunting theme when I come across it! Your dishes are very neat and a great addition to your table. My son once ran into the field for no reason when he was about five and found a full set of antlers. Trust me there was a lot of field running after that, but never such a unique find!
