Bronze Fireplace Fender

I am very excited to join in for the very first time. I would like to share with you pictures of our fireplace fender. I think that's what Vanna over at http://lvroftiques.blogspot.com/ told me it is. If you have not visited Vanna's blog, you are missing out so you should go and check out all her pretties. Lucky for us cause she is running out of room in her house for all these treasures so she is trying to get rid of them. I already reserved something for me, LOL!

Back to the fender, it's a very heavy bronze and I love all the details on it, the medallion, acanthus leaves and the curvy ends. Best of all, we got it for free.

I said we got it for free but it's not as simple as that. The seller's uncle who owned the estate and who was a famous antique dealer in town and was only in his 50's, died so suddenly. Most of his antiques and store treasures were auctioned off but they were still selling 2 antebellum houses that he owned downtown. We went to check out his antique store to see if it was empty and were surprised to see that his nephew opened it up again to continue the legacy. We bought a patio set and a pair of Sevres eggs (I'll blog about them someday with dh's other massive egg collection, LOL!) and lamps but he wasn't set up to accept credit cards. I don't know about you but when I am spending money, I want those travel rewards or any rewards I can get for spending, so I use credit cards instead of cash. He told us he would be ready to accept credit cards in 2 weeks and that he would call. Part of the patio set was still in his house and he told us to go there to inspect it. While there, we asked to see the 2 historical antebellum houses and the Rolls Royce that were up for sale. That's where I saw this fireplace fender. It was sitting in front of his fireplace.

I was so attracted to it so I asked if he would sell it to me. He told me he had to ask his mom because he did not know how much to sell it for and that he would call me later.

5 weeks later, he finally called, we settled on the bill and picked up the items that we bought. Then, he said because we have been so patient, he will just give me the fender for free. Whoohoo! That's a magic word for me that makes me REALLY happy!
