Just an Everyday Simple Dinner

We had a storm last night and the deck was full of some kind of squiggly things that came from the oak trees. I swept the deck and I just got done. A new doctor wants to take us out to dinner tonight and I have to get ready, therefore, I do not have time to create a tablescape.
But I have this old tablescape photos in my hard drive that I never posted so I will just post it. My stepdaughter Heather and her hubby came by for a visit from Florida last year (2010) in November and this was just one of our regular dinners, nothing fancy. You probably know how it gets hectic sometimes when we have company so no real preparation here.

There's Heather! Isn't she pretty?

I made "escabeche" which is just a fried whole red snapper with sweet and sour sauce and veggies.

Heather loves fried green tomatoes so I made some too. And of course we always have to have rice.

I just used one of our everyday dishes.
and everyday placemats. I like using these everyday for the round table because of the shape.
You see, I did not even put extra flatware and the drinks came later. Just like I said, nothing fancy here. I hope Susan does not kick me out of this meme, lol.
Thanks for hosting Susan, and thank y'all for coming!

I'd enjoyed so much looking at your everyday table. The dishes are so pretty and warm, the step daughter is gorgeous and the "escabeche" looks yummy...I make a Escabeche too, with fish, shrimp, potato chips, that go in it and other things, it was my MIL's recipe and we love it! Let's trade recipes, you won't be dissapointed, and yours look great, I like the presentation.

You are such a good cook, Christine! And yes, Heather is pretty and so is your table. It doesn't have to be extravagant to be attractive and welcoming!

It is great to see an everyday tablescape. That is how most of us live anyway. I love the dishes and I believe I have the same flatware. We love the heft of it and us it everyday. Bob is really picky about the everyday stuff. It has to feel just right.
The food looks great. I know you are a good cook. Would you share or post the recipe for the fried tomatoes. We love that dish but mine never turn out like yours. PLEASE, I need that recipe.LOL. Hugs, Ginger

Hello, Christine!!! Hope you had a good week! For having little time to prepare, you sure put together one heck of a nice table. The food looks wonderful (fried green tomatoes...yum!), and the way you serve that food is beautiful. Very convenient, too, on that Lazy Susan. No one has to pick anything up to pass it. Very cool idea!
