Shopping in Vicksburg, Pink and Faves

Another favorite day of mine is here again. Actually, this was my very favorite when I was still in school and when I used to work. Now, it just feels like Saturday all the time but in blogging, it is still one of my favorite days.

Why? That's cause I get to post my favorite pinks, some of my favorite things and I get to take you on a virtual sightseeing and shopping.

Make sure you visit our hostesses, Beverly for Pink Saturday at
Debbie for Garage Salen at http://debbie-debbiedoos.blogspot.com/

I won this huge English Limoges serving platter from Ebay. It's 18.5 x 13.5 inches but I especially like it because it resembles a Bavarian Tirschenreuth dinnerware set in Newport pattern that I already have. I took a picture of the Bavarian saucer and sugar server you can see below to show you the similarity in pattern.
And below is my very favorite purchase from one of the vendors at the store, a pair of candlesticks holders. They are heavy and I am not really sure if they are iron or bronze but I just love the carving on them. They are quite tall too and best of all is the price of $10 for the pair. At first the tag was $15 and I was almost tempted to buy them then but I waited till the next week and the seller lowered them to $10. I grabbed them before someone else could, lol.
They almost look like they have a French art nouveau pattern. I think they look good on our foyer console with my Lladro jug girl.

Last weekend, John and I went to Vicksburg to find more items for the store. On our way there, there was an unfortunate accident. I hope nobody was hurt but kinda impossible with an overturned vehicle.

Do you see the person being put on a stretcher?

Anyway, on to Vicksburg. The city, just like Natchez is very historical. I still have to go to the civil war battleground there but we just keep putting it off.
Below is a steeple of a church that we keep seeing whenever we go there. It looks very pretty but I am not sure which church it is cause we weren't really directly in front of it.

I think this is the city hall museum.

This is the street leading to the Mississippi River and the casino.

There is a glimpse of the casino.

Downtown is so pretty, so quaint and charming. I love the brick streets or are they cobble stones?

Look at that pretty building! It reminds me of New Orleans.

This was above the consignment store that we went to.

And below, you will see the items that we brought home. Most of them are already in the store.

The grandma and grandpa lamp. Of course John wants to keep it. He keeps suggesting where I can display it in the house, lol.

I like this bufet lamp. I am especially attracted to the striped shade.

A pair of crystal candlesticks holders. This pair I decided to keep.

We did not buy this rocking chair from Vicksburg. Instead, we saw it in a store in Natchez that we passed by along the way. I love the shape of the seat and how low it is and I thought it would be perfect for my mom who has shrunk quite a bit, to sit on whenever she is at the store. So, it is priced "not to sell", meaning high enough so that it does not sell, but if someone wants it bad enough to buy it at a high price, that's ok too, lol.

This table with a lamp as you can see is already displayed in the store. I added the tassel on it.

Thanks to all our hostesses namely, Beverly, Laurie and Debbie.
And thank you all for coming by.
